Bio

DARLING CHUCK
is a DJ, Performer and Artist from the San Francisco Bay Area who’s currently based in New York City and Los Angeles. Influenced early on by her grandmother and mother to take up dance and piano lessons, she began training and performing in recitals at 7 years old and has been chasing the stage ever since. Her early inspirations included superstars such as Michael and Janet Jackson, Paula Abdul, Prince, David Bowie and Madonna, who would become the foundational pillars that’d shape her style and taste in the years to come. Chuck (or DC for short) would spend the rest of her younger years inside dance studios and on stages up until college, where she’d switch her concentration and pursue a career in fashion.

Putting her hard-paid knowledge, skills and interests to good use, DC worked as an Apparel & Visual Merchandiser for Saks Fifth Avenue while also contributing to Examiner.com’s Fashion News & Street Style column. In 2010, DC took the leap from the Bay Area to New York City to further explore the world of fashion. DC continued down the path, and found herself becoming a Casting Agent, working closely with big fashion names such as Annie Leibovitz, Karl Lagerfeld, Fendi, Vogue and Vanity Fair.

While clocking in her hours in fashion advertising, photo shoots and runway shows during the day, DC got into the NYC “club kid” and night life party scene where she would discover and build a new, yet familiar community of DJ’s, musicians and party people to share music and exchange culture with. DC realized her true passion of music and performing through DJing, and after nearly a decade in the fashion industry she decided to yet again take a risk and switch it up, this time in a completely different industry trying her hand at spinning records. In 2014, she left her full time job with benefits and coined the term Bae Vibez, creating a mix series that continues to draw upon a spectrum of creative influences that touch on her west coast upbringing and east coast sensibilities.

The following year in 2015 she co-founded FOMO, a monthly dance party aimed at pushing hip-hop and dance culture forward, forging personal relationships and collaborations with touchstones of the music, fashion and lifestyle scenes such as Fool’s Gold Records, Elsewhere Brooklyn, Soulection, Serato, Urban Outfitters, Miss Grass, Soho House and Hoxton Hotels.

In addition to DJing parties and events, DC has appeared in television commercials and programs. She made her first TV appearance on the TODAY Show with GQ Magazine’s style editor, and has worked on various short films as an actress and model with directors including An Rong Xu, Rich Schlansker and Reynald Gresset.

A natural performer and entertainer, Darling Chuck has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with Awkwafina, Lion Babe, Kero One, Electric Guest, Sosupersam and Mya. Most recently, DC joined R&B darlings VanJess as their tour DJ on Masego’s Lady Lady tour in 2018.

Darling Chuck has been featured and recognized in publications such as Noisey, The Fader, Angry Asian Man and New York Magazine’s The Cut. She hopes to continue to spread Bae Vibez around the world while connecting and building with other like-minded artists. She is passionate about expression through art, education and women’s rights.
